Luke Evans Joins Mandy Moore & Woody Harrelson in ‘Midway’

The Alientist’s Luke Evans is stepping on board Roland Emmerich’s latest World War II action film Midway, joining the already cast Mandy Moore (This Is Us) and Woody Harrelson (Solo: A Star Wars Story).

Midway will “tell the story of the famed Battle of Midway, considered a turning point in America’s battle against Japan.” Evans will be playing Commander Wade McClusky alongside Harrelson in the role of Admiral Chester Nimitz who “lead the American naval fleet to victory in a foray that involved aircraft carriers, destroyers, and cruisers.”

Movie buffs may recognize Emmerich’s name from other action films such as The Day After Tomorrow and Independence Day. He will be directing a script by Wes Tooke, who has written for USA’s original series Colony. Emmerich will also be producing the film alongside Harald Kloser and Yu Dong.

In addition to his run as John Moore on season 1 of The Alienist, Evans recently appeared in 2017’s live-action Beauty and the Beast as Gaston. He’ll actually be pairing back up with his Beauty and the Beast sidekick Josh Gad (LeFou) in the upcoming superhero comedy Anna and is currently shooting a new Netflix original movie with Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston titled Murder Mystery.

What do you think about Midway? We think that Evans, Harrelson, and Moore will make quite the trio on screen and are looking forward to Emmerich’s take on the Battle of Midway.
