AMC to Hold a ‘Best of Carol’ Marathon

AMC has previously done The Walking Dead marathons where they focus on characters’ best episodes and the latest will most likely please many Carol fans! They are now going to do an eight-episode marathon which will focus on carol Peletier (Melissa McBride), with episodes like ‘The Grove’ and ‘No Sanctuary’ which fans have previously watched. This marathon comes seven days after the Best of the Dixon Brothers Marathon.

McBride plays the role of a battered housewife who turns into a heroinr and has been in the series since 2010. She will still be in the ninth season which will debut this fall on AMC. According to Foxtel Insider, the actress is humbled to have been in the series for so long.

“I still can’t wrap my head around how Carol could have survived this long, because I thought she wouldn’t make it past the first episode,” McBride said.

Frank Darabont, the original Walking Dead showrunner who has previously worked with McBride on the 2007 Stephen King horror The Mist, cast McBride to portray Carol, who was a mousy and protective mother who ultimately committed suicide by walker in issue #42 of the comics.

McBride thought that her Walking Dead role would be as small as her role in The Mist, saying,

“I thought this would be the same because, in the beginning, Carol didn’t have a lot to say so I thought she wouldn’t make it, and then I was surprised she survived the first season and today I’m still surprised. I love what the writers have done with Carol; she’s so complicated and she’s a hero to me and a lot of other people.”

Since both Andrew Lincoln and Lauren Cohan are going to be showing their faces for the last time on The Walking Dead in season 9, the two final original remaining characters from season one are Daryl and Carol. They are fan favorites, that could potentially take the show in an amazing direction, but there’s a blow to bear before that can happen.

There are other marathons that AMC have planned for their audiences, i.e. the Governor (David Morrissey) on July 8, Shane (Jon Bernthal) July 15, Glenn (Steven Yenn) July 22, and Michonne (Danai Gurira) July 29.
