Quentin Tarantino’s ‘Star Trek’ Film May Include J.J. Abrams’ Cast

Last year, when news first broke that Quentin Tarantino was considering making a Star Trek film, fan reactions were mixed. Tarantino is known for his distinctive style of filmmaking, usually involves an R-rated film, which would be something completely different for the franchise. The initial thought was that his version of a Star Trek film would feature an entirely new cast to go along with Tarantino’s new vision. As it turns out, that might not actually be the case.

Zachary Quinto, who has taken on the iconic role of Spock in the newer films, shared his thoughts and interpretations as to what a Tarantino film might entail. To his understanding and assumption, the upcoming film actually includes the original J.J. Abrams assembled cast from the 2009 Star Trek film. Quinto recently appeared on the Happy Sad Confused podcast where he said:

[row]“My assumption is that it is with us,” meaning the J.J. Abrams cast. He continues, “That is how it has been presented.”[/row]

As Quinto astutely points out, speculation means nothing until contracts are finalized and signed, but all signs are pointing to the same cast returning for Tarantino’s rendition. He said:

[row]“You know, until deals are done and contracts are signed and schedules are cleared, nothing is set in stone, so anything can happen. My understanding is Quentin had this idea and they were shaping it and forming it and he is off to do his Manson movie. And it would be after that, that we would go maybe do one with him. Which is pretty exciting, pretty cool.”[/row]

What do you think about the original J.J. Abrams cast returning for a Tarantino directed Star Trek film? Is this something that you’d like to see happen? Let us know what you think in the comment section below.
