Riggs won the same award in both 2014 and 2016 and we couldn’t be more excited for him to take it home a third time! His performance as Carl Grimes made him beloved by millions of fans across the world. This time, he won for season 8 and was up against KJ Apa (Archie Andrews, Riverdale), Millie Bobby Brown (Eleven, Stranger Things), Max Charles (Zach Goodweather, The Strain), David Mazouz (Bruce Wayne, Gotham), Lili Reinhart (Betty Cooper, Riverdale), Cole Sprouse (Jughead Jones, Riverdale), and Alycia Debnam-Carey (Alicia Clark, Fear The Walking Dead).
The Walking Dead was up against some stiff competition as well for Best Horror Television Series, which it also won this year. American Horror Story: Cult, Fear The Walking Dead, Preacher, Ash vs. Evil Dead, The Strain, and Teen Wolf made up the tough competition.
Between The Walking Dead and its sister show Fear, the zombie thrillers were nominated for 8 overall awards. Andrew Lincoln, Danai Gurira, Khary Payton, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, and Melissa McBride were all nominated as well.
