Michael Douglas Wants an ‘Ant-Man’ Prequel

Peyton Reed’s Ant-Man and The Wasp screened for audiences and there seems to be a positive reaction to the Ant-Man sequel. This proves that we might be seeing growth in the little-not-so-little hero. It leaves us wondering about where the Marvel Cinematic Universe could continue to evolve the Ant-Man brand to. Actor Michael Douglas, who plays Master Hank Pym is leaning towards a spin-off where we get to focus on Hank Pym’s exploits as a young man.

In an interview with Screen Rant, he said,

“It’s no secret that the Marvel Cinematic Universe has made consistent strides in its ability to convey different stages of the same character. Whether it’s the process of making Hayley Atwell look like a geriatric Peggy Carter in Captain America: The Winter Soldier or making Michael Douglas look like a young Hank Pym in the first Ant-Man, we have watched the progression of this tech do some incredible things on the big screen.”

Now, with the movie magic continuing to expand and evolve as it improves, Douglas thinks that we are at a point where he can do an entire prequel movie as a younger version of himself. Although he knows that even technology has its limitation, the actor noted that while he would still need a stunt double to tackle the potential ant-man prequel, the de-aging technology is at its prime in making this film a priority.

The stunt double idea could actually work because the Ant-Man action generally takes place with the hero’s face hidden under a mask. Michael Douglas would therefore need to do the dialogue scenes if the action scenes proved to be too hard for him. Only time will tell if we have an Ant-Man prequel Film, in the meantime, we’re all expecting the highly anticipated Ant-Man and The Wasp sequel which debuts on July 6, 2018.
