Aaron Paul Joins Apple Drama Series ‘Are You Sleeping’

The Path may have just been canceled by Hulu, but Aaron Paul is already on a new path of his own. He has just signed on to star in the highly-anticipated new Apple TV drama Are You Sleeping alongside Oscar winner Octavia Spencer and Master of Sex’s Lizzy Caplan.

The series is based on the novel of the same name written by Kathleen Barber and follows Poppy Parnell (Spencer), an investigative reporter who uses her new podcast to look back at a questionable guilty murder verdict of which Warren Cave (Paul) was on the receiving end. Caplan will be playing two roles as twin sisters Josie and Lanie, whose lives have taken different paths.

Also joining the cast is This Is Us’ Ron Cephas Jones, Weeds’ Elizabeth Perkins, ER’sMekhi Phifer, and Sons of Anarchy’s Michael BeachJones will be playing detective Poppy’s dad and Perkins will be playing Cave’s mom.

Are You Sleeping nabbed a 10-episode order, joining other recent Apple series orders including an untitled Kristen Wiig comedy series, a musical dramedy from the minds of Sarah Bareilles and J.J. Abrams, and a psychological thriller from M. Night Shyamalan.

Nichelle Tramble Spellman is adapting the show for TV and is set to executive produce and write. Reese Witherspoon is also listed as an Executive Producer, further expanding her role with Apple original programming as she already has a morning show drama series in the works with Jennifer Aniston.
