“Before The Conjuring. Before Annabelle. The darkest chapter was born.”

The first teaser for The Nun dropped on Wednesday, and we’re pretty much terrified!

From New Line Cinema and Warner Bros Entertainment, The Nun is a prequel to The Conjuring films and will show audiences the story of what the below video calls, “the darkest chapter.”

The teaser first begins with a shot of a ghostly nun image. As the camera pans out, the voice of Sister Irene (played by Taissa Farmiga) can be heard saying, “I had a series of visions when I was younger and after each one ended, the same thought would be stuck in my head.”  When she is asked about what vision she saw, she replies, “I saw a nun.”

After learning about her visions, the church sends Sister Irene along with a priest (played by Damian Bichir) to an abbey in Romania which has a dark past and, from the looks of it, a terrifying present too!

Check out the first teaser for The Nun below:

Directed by Corin hard and co-written by The Conjuring‘s James Wan and Gary Dauberman, The Nun stars Oscar-nominated Demian Bichir as Father Burke, Taissa Farmiga as Sister Irene, Jonas Bloquet as local villager Frenchie, Charlotte Hope as the abbey’s Sister Victoria, Ingrid Bisu as Sister Oana, and Bonnie Aarons as the titular character thus reprising her role from Conjuring 2.

The Nun hits theaters on September  7th.
