The Russo Brothers on Massive Criticism of ‘Avengers: Infinity War’

When fans left the theater having seen Avengers: Infinity War, a few questions hung in the air. One of the massive ones was why didn’t Bucky get more screen time? Okay, so maybe that wasn’t our MOST pressing concern, but it was up there on the list.

If we’re being honest, like most viewers, we were wondering what was next after that Thanos snap. Especially since we were all but pinky promised that those Infinity War deaths were permanent.

In a recent interview with the Huffington Post, the Russos gave an official response to the fans who had a lot to say about the film’s end.

‘Here’s the thing, I think it’s important to remember anything is possible in the MCU. Just because there’s a sequel on the books doesn’t mean … people become accustomed to time moving linearly in the MCU. That doesn’t necessarily have to be the case. There’s a lot of very inventive ways of where the story can go from here.’

We expected this type of response if the two were asked about the end of the film, and it’s not untrue. There are a plethora of ways that the next MCU films could tell stories. They could examine the past, introduce new viewpoints in existing stories, show characters assume new roles, and see the heroes as we know them change in front of our eyes.

That’s the beauty of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the intelligence and creativity of those surrounding the film. It’s exciting and it’s a bit unnerving and it’s uncertain, but it allows room for all of us to dream a little.

For us, those dreams include a time travel option or some way to get some of our most loved heroes back – even if they go on an extreme vacation afterward – but we know not to count our chickens before they hatch.

You can see Avengers: Infinity War in theaters, now.
