‘Suicide Squad 2’ Gets 2 New Writers

Even though Suicide Squad 2 production has been pushed back to 2019, it’s been announced that David Bar Katz and Gotham actor Todd Stashwick are helping the director with the script.

Gavin O’Connor was announced last year as the director to make the prequel after the success of David Ayer’s Suicide Squad in 2016. Since then, O’Connor was working on the script for the sequel.

You might know Todd Stashwick from the pre-Batman era series Gotham, where he portrayed Richard Sionis, also known as The Mask.

Then we have David Bar Katz, the American screenwriter who is known for his script of Chasing Phil. Not only is he a screenwriter, but he also has some comic book experience in the DC Comics department, which is a great plus in this case. He wrote the story for The History of Invulnerability, which tells the story of Superman’s creation.

We’re hoping that this is the official set-up, as Adam Cozad (known from The Legend of Tarzan) was working on a script for the sequel.

Suicide Squad 2 is a sequel to the previous movie that DC and Warner Bros. released back in 2016, directed by David Ayer. Soon after the release, Warner was already in talks for a sequel, even though the critics were more against it. The first movie had its flaws. The 2016 movie starred Margot Robbie, Will Smith, and Joel Kinnaman. It makes sense it will take a little longer, especially with the possible Joker solo movie and the Birds of Prey in the works.

There is no release date yet.
