Sebastian Stan Talks Not Being Cast as Captain America in the MCU
It happens, sometimes, that an actor or actress goes to an audition for a specific role and ends up being cast as someone different. In fact, most of the time when we learn that one of our favorite characters was almost played by someone else…well, we can never see that someone else doing the part justice.
One of those situations is Sebastian Stan initially going out for the role as Steve Rogers but ending up as Bucky Barnes. This isn’t the first time he’s talked about it, either.
In a recent interview with CNBC Make It, Stan said not being cast as Captain America ‘worked out’ in his favor. A sentiment that fans of both Stan and Bucky Barnes can agree with. He fits the role perfectly and transforms the Winter Soldier from a villain to the hero you find yourself rooting for at the end of the day.
Fans can find inspiration in hearing Stan talk about being told he wasn’t right for the part and ending up in the better role for himself. He also had this advice for facing rejection.
‘Try not to take things personally, learn how to face rejection, no matter what you do, stay obsessed with it.’
We think that’s the best advice anyone could ever receive. If it doesn’t set your soul on fire, why invest yourself in it?
You can see Sebastian as Bucky Barnes in Avengers: Infinity War, now.
