‘The Office’s’ Hugh Dane Dies at 75

Today, fans and cast of the Office are in mourning. Hugh Dane, the actor most well known for his role as Hank the Security Guard on the Office has passed away.  In a show known for picking some of the best talent to bring their characters to life, Hugh Dane was a tremendous asset to the show. Hank became one of the funniest recurring characters throughout the series.

He would always show up at the times hard choices needed to be made: Whether it be helping to decide whether to purchase a new chair or copier, not backing up Michael in case a firing goes wrong , or promoting Dwight to honorary security guard. Hugh made the most out of each of his appearances and with his at times deadpan delivery and no nonsense attitude, Hank became a part of our life, and a welcome one at that.

Since his death was announced earlier today, former Office cast mates have been honoring Hugh on their social media. Steve Carrell, who played Dunder Mifflin manager Michael Scott called him “a Terrific Guy” while Dwight actor Rainn Wilson shared a scene of Hugh and himself together, noting “He was one of the greats. So kind, funny, talented. We will all miss him.”

Hugh left his mark also on various shows and films throughout his career including Bridesmaids, Joy Ride, Martin and the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.  He will be sorely missed.
