Westworld Preview ‘Les Écorchés’
A showdown is coming as Dolores and company break into Delos’ main facility in an attempt to rescue Abernathy. During the trailer, Dolores talks about how “when you’re in the darkness long enough, you begin to see.” She has experience quite a lot of darkness, but this could also be referring to Bernard, who is inside the Cradle. His encounter with Ford’s consciousness will hopefully shed some light on why he decided to start this new game and unleash the Hosts. All I know is that I was not expecting Ford to return to the series.
An interesting moment in the trailer is Charlotte coming across a number of Bernard Hosts that are inactive. If she’s learned the truth, why don’t Delos’ men in the future know that Bernard isn’t human? Does that mean Bernard is going to get to Charlotte before she can spread this information? Or maybe they do know and they are just using Bernard.
Meanwhile, Maeve has reunited with her daughter, but it is not the joyous moment that she was expecting it to be. The Ghost Nation attacked, but Hector, Armistice, and Hanaryo fight back. In the promo, Maeve lets out a gutteral scream, which can’t mean things go their way. Lee used the phone he picked up off a dead Delos soldier to call for back-up, so perhaps they arrive and put down all Hosts in sight. From the little bit shown, we might be facing a major character death.
