Did You Catch These A-List Cameos in 'Deadpool 2'?

If you’ve made it this far, it’s safe to say that you’ve seen Deadpool 2 at least once in theaters. If you haven’t, this is your final chance to close your eyes, close the browser and stay spoiler-free until you watch the film.

Still here? Ok, great! Let’s talk about four huge Deadpool 2 cameos that you may have missed while watching the film.

Fans expected Deadpool 2 to be filled with tons and tons of brutally hilariously pop culture references, however, much to the surprise of audiences, the film also had some awesome A-List celebrity cameos. In addition to the obviously noticeable (we’re looking at you X-Men. We see you hiding behind that door!), these cameos happened so quickly or were so well concealed under prosthetics and make-up that you may have missed them on your first viewing. Well, today, we’ll just call you Domino because it’s your lucky day! We’re here to break down those hidden cameos for you!

1. Vanisher

Early on in Deadpool 2, the Merc with a mouth (played by Ryan Reynolds) focuses on assembling his X-Force team including Domino, Shatterstar, Zeitgeist, Bedlam, Peter and, of course, the elusive Vanisher. The Vanisher is so good at displaying his superpower of invisibility that Deadpool and Weasel aren’t even sure if he showed up for the audition interview. In fact, it’s not until the character meets his untimely demise after parachuting straight into a set of powerlines that his true identity is revealed. If you sneezed, blinked or turned away from the screen for a split second, you would have missed the fact that Vanisher was played by the one and only Brad Pitt!

Early on in Deadpool 2’s development, Pitt was one of the actors rumored to be in the running to play Cable, a role which eventually went to James Brolin. Pitt is listed as Vanisher in the film’s credits and Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds recently revealed that Pitt was compensated for his brief cameo with a simple cup of coffee.

2. Redneck #1

When Cable first makes his appearance on Earth, he lands in a mostly empty field which is only occupied by two redneck pals talking about toilet paper in a field. One of the rednecks is clearly recognizable as Alan Tudyk. Tudyk is known for being an incredible voice and character actor playing such memorable roles as Steven the Pirate in Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story and Wat in A Knight’s Tale. He fit right into the Deadpool 2 film once again channeling his amazing voice and character acting skills. Tudyk is also credited at the end of the film.

3. Redneck #2

The role of Alan Tudyk’s redneck sidekick was also hidden cameo and perhaps the best-kept secret of Deadpool 2. This cameo was so well concealed that, in the film’s credits, the actor’s name isn’t even listed! The role of Redneck #2 is credited as Dickie Greenleaf. Does that name ring a bell? It’s the name of Jude Law’s character from The Talented Mr. Ripley – a film which focuses on identity theft by the titular character. Dickie Greenleaf wasn’t just a random reference though. Of course, it wasn’t. Nothing in Deadpool is random. The role of Redneck #2, aka Dickie Greenleaf, was played by The Talented Mr. Ripley star Matt Damon!

Damon’s character in Deadpool 2 was so well concealed with prosthetics and makeup that even the crew on set didn’t know it was actually the actor until well after filming had wrapped. This is technically Damon’s second cameo in a Marvel character’s film. He also had a brief appearance in Thor: Ragnarok.

4. Graffiti Wall Tribute

Last but certainly not least, Deadpool 2 offered a tribute to the greatest of all cameo actors ever. We are, of course, talking about Mr. Stan Lee. While Lee didn’t actually physically appear in Deadpool 2, his likeness was shown for a split second on a wall of graffiti artwork. Film director David Leitch confirmed that, while Domino is flying throughout the city, Lee’s image can be seen on the wall of a building as a tribute to the Marvel legend.
