This ‘Infinity War’ Moment was Nearly Impossible to Watch

If you haven’t seen Avengers: Infinity War yet, we’d recommend not reading any further. We’d also recommend staying in the happy little bubble that exists before you step into the theater, you’ll miss it once it’s gone.

While Avengers: Infinity War was full of some pretty massive goodbyes, a few of them stood out above the rest. Watching these heroes we loved fall victim to Thanos was hard. Watching them disappear in front of their loved ones was even harder.

Now, we’ve already talked about Steve and Bucky, but the other goodbye that sent us into a mess of tears was that of Peter and Tony. The hardest part was watching them begin to dissolve. They could feel what was about to happen and confusion and fear began to set in. This was especially prevalent for Peter and his Spidey-senses.

As Peter begins experiencing the effects, he reaches out to Tony. He says he doesn’t feel so good, and doesn’t know what’s happening. He starts to cry as he tells ‘Mr. Stark’ that he doesn’t want to go.

Seriously, if you held it together, we aren’t sure how.

Before he dissolves completely, he lookes at Tony and says he is sorry. You can immediately see the look on Tony’s face laced with regret. Of course, Peter Parker would have met with destiny eventually. However, Tony has officially ‘knighted’ him an Avenger. This boy is his responsibility. The look on his face in that moment is one of regret.

The truth is that he has given Peter more than he could have asked for. He’s a father figure to Peter. He is someone who has guided him during a confusing time – not just as a growing hero, but as an adolescent. He’s been a sounding board, a moral compass, and a hero in more than the Iron Man sense.

We know there has to be more for our fallen Avengers. That means more for Tony and Peter, but we’ve got a year before that happens. No promise of a happy future could mend that broken spot.

You can see Avengers: Infinity War in theaters now.
