Will Netflix’s ‘Sabrina’ Series Crossover With ‘Riverdale’?

There’s a lot to be thankful for when it comes to The CW’s Riverdale. It brought Cole Sprouse back to TV as the ‘weirdo’ Jughead then upped the ante by allowing us all onboard the Bughead ship. It brought the campy teen drama genre back to the network that we’d all been dearly craving, and it paved the way for the spinoff series, The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, to come to fruition.

Ever since the news of Sabrina came out, fans have been wondering if the citizens of Riverdale would find themselves crossing over into Sabrina’s town of Greendale. The two shows will take place in the same universe, and Riverdale has mentioned Greendale before as well, but the spinoff series will be setting up shop at Netflix as opposed to The CW, which could make things difficult.

Well, Jon Goldwater, CEO of Archie Comics and an executive producer on Riverdale and Sabrina, just confirmed that assumption, saying that there is no crossover in the pipeline at the moment.

Right now, we’re not thinking about that. They’re two separate entities for right now.

Goldwater isn’t taking a potential crossover off the table forever though. Much like us, he would also like to see some sort of blending.

[I] would love it if they could figure out a way to cross over … Going forward? You never know. Maybe.

Perhaps the executives want Sabrina to find its own footing and audience separate from Riverdale before bringing the two worlds together. The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina will focus on teenage Sabrina struggling to balance her life has a half-witch half-human, which would make a crossover difficult at the moment seeing as Riverdale hasn’t incorporated any supernatural storylines into their world…yet.

Thankfully, with Riverdale having just been renewed for a third season and Netflix already ordering two seasons of Sabrina, there is definitely room and opportunity for these two series to write their way into the same story.
