Stephen King’s ‘The Tommyknockers’ Movie in the Works!

Stephen King tales continue to ‘shine’ (pun intended) as efforts are made to bring yet another blast from the past to the big screen. James Wan, director for Aquaman and producer for The Conjuring franchise, along with Roy Lee, whose credits include It and The Departed, are joining forces to bring Stephen King’s 1987 tale, The Tommyknockers to the seemingly insatiable theatergoers. Wan and Lee have also teamed up with Larry Sanitsky who executive produced The Tommyknockers as an ABC miniseries back in 1993. The producers started their studio search via Paradigm, who represent Wan and King, on Thursday.

“It is an allegorical tale of addiction (Stephen was struggling with his own at the time), the threat of nuclear power, the danger of mass hysteria, and the absurdity of technical evolution run amuck. All are as relevant today as the day the novel was written. It is also a tale about the eternal power of love and the grace of redemption.” – Larry Sanitsky

There seems to be plenty of talent on board for a Tommyknocker movie adaptation. Fingers crossed that we will see it hit theaters in the very near future!

“Writer Bobbi Anderson becomes obsessed with digging up something she’s found buried in the woods near her home. With the help of her friend, Jim Gardener, she uncovers an alien spaceship. Though exposure to the Tommyknockers who piloted the alien craft has detrimental effects on residents’ health, the people of Haven develop a talent for creating innovative devices under its increasingly malignant influence.” – Source: StephenKing.com
