Kathy Bates Returns For ‘American Horror Story’ Season 8 Alongside Sarah Paulson and Evan Peters

American Horror Story will begin filming this summer and co-creator Ryan Murphy announced in an exclusive interview with Entertainment Weekly that Kathy Bates will, in fact, be joining regulars Sarah Paulson and Evan Peters for the anthology’s eighth season.

Bates did not appear in the seventh season (AHS: Cult) due to her being cast in the comedy series Disjointed which can be streamed on Netflix. Disjointed will not be returning for a second season giving the actress freedom to come back to where we all know and love her the best.

The last we saw Bates was when she portrayed Agnes Mary Winstead in the FX series’ sixth season, AHS: Roanoke. She also appeared in season three (AHS: Coven) as Delphine LaLaurie, season four (AHS: Freak Show) as bearded lady Ethel and in season five (AHS: Hotel) as front desk manager Iris.

Murphy had the following to say regarding the return of Paulson, Peters and Bates:

“Kathy and Sarah Paulson have a lot of great stuff to get to do. So, with Evan Peters, the three of them are the leads this year.”

Rumors have also surfaced that season eight would be titled Radioactive. Murphy, somewhat, addressed those rumors to EW by stating,

“I heard about that rumor. Well, that’s based on a fact that we’ve cleared a lot of titles for that show. It’s an interesting idea. I can neither confirm nor deny.”
