Joe Russo on the Approach for ‘Avengers 4’

Fans of the MCU are counting down the days until Avengers: Infinity War. Excitement has been building for months but with the release of the latest trailer, it’s all we can think about. Well, that and Avengers 4.

The movie, which will hit theaters on May 3, 2019, is going to follow the events of Infinity War, and bring some stories full circle.

Joe Russo had this to say about the movie and how they looked at Avengers 4. It’s not exactly by the book which allows them to be more personal. It’s the type of film fans want to experience.

‘We look in a way that you would look at writers in comic books. People pick up different runs, and they go with it. If there are things from mythology that you are inspired by or you find relevancy in, you go with that. If there are things in mythology that you want to see differently, then you explore ways to execute it differently.’

When it comes to the current set up of films, 21 upon the release of Avengers 4, there have been different visions along the way. The Russo’s know that everything they’ve been part of so far is much bigger than themselves.

‘I think, of course, there is a list of movies that have preceded this. Those movies have been directed by a lot of different directors, with a lot of different styles, and a lot of different things to say. Anthony and I have found repeatedly that the best and only way for us to move forward, is to receive that information, keep what we like, explore what we like, and exploit what we like, and tell the story that we want to tell.’

They haven’t gone wrong so far.

Avengers: Infinity War hits theaters on April 27th.
