Kevin Feige and Anthony Russo on Thanos’ ‘Avengers: Infinity War Story’

Alongside some incredible collector edition covers and 8 special Avengers: Infinity War behind the scenes photos, fans of the MCU got some news about the big film today. Not only did we hear a bit about Tony Stark and who we might expect to be teamed up with who, we heard about that villain that’s been haunting our dreams. Or, ya know, the villain with all those hilarious memes.

In speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Kevin Feige had this to say about Thanos and why his fight is so important to him.

‘He’s from a planet called Titan that’s no longer inhabited because of things that he thought he could help prevent, and he was not allowed to do that. What he feared most happened, and the planet and everybody on it basically went extinct. He vowed not to let that happen again. He thinks he sees the universe going down the tubes. He thinks he sees life expanding outward unchecked. That will bring ruin, he believes, to the universe and to that life.’

Now, we have to say up front, we don’t see Thanos as being one of those villains that we can really relate to. Not one we leave the theater rooting for, but we do see that his story is what makes a villain a good one. It’s the line that blurs and sometimes once you cross it, it seems to disappear entirely.

Anthony Russo discussed what fans can expect in terms of seeing Thanos in Wakanda, and it may not be the reason you originally thought.

‘Cap makes the decision to bring Vision to Wakanda. Earth is making its last stand to keep the stone from Thanos. It’s the best place to make your last stand.’

Having just seen Black Panther (again) we have to agree – there’s no place like Wakanda when Thanos is on his way to destroy everything.

Avengers: Infinity War hits theaters on April 27th.
