‘Black Panther’ Inspiring Pet Adoption As Fans Go Black Cat Crazy!

Marvel blockbuster Black Panther has not only provided stunning cinematic entertainment in its ever-growing universe,  it has also tapped into the hearts of animal lovers. Normally considered ‘unlucky’, black cats are finally getting some appreciation… and hopefully some good homes.

“Unexpected benefit of Black Panther: my local pet shelters went from having something like 50-60 black cats between them to having NONE, because they’ve all been adopted out and named after the characters. ‘T’challa’ is the most popular, but there are a fair number of ‘Okoye’s’ and ‘Shuri’s’ as well … and one very confused elderly Humane Society volunteer wondering why someone would name such a sweet cat ‘Killmonger.’” Source: Tumblr Blog – gallusrostromegalus

While there were concerns regarding the adoption of dark-haired feline fuzzies being a fad, the blog poster assured us that there is a system in place to ensure that the cats are placed with capable caring people. A woman in charge of the shelter went on to say that the cats were going to those that wished to adopt anyway, they just so happen to see the black kitty-cats and immediately thought of Black Panther.

Opening your heart and home to an animal in need is a great way to pay tribute to this amazing movie AND support a worthy cause. Imagine your very own pint-sized panther! 🙂
