Best Picture Nominee ‘Get Out’ Returning to Theaters on President’s Day

We are just over a week away from the one-year anniversary of Jordan Peele’s thriller Get Out and people are still talking about it. Not only has the film reached critical acclaim, including four Academy Award nominations, but it has become a cultural phenomenon as well, inspiring conversations about social and racial issues. There are even college courses dedicated only to analyzing the film. So, to commemorate the film’s birthday, Universal Pictures and Jordan Peele are giving fans the opportunity to see Get Out in theaters once more – and for free!

The free screenings will be taking place on 7 p.m. on President’s Day (February 19th) at 55 AMC Theater locations around the country. Tickets can only be picked up in person at the box office and will be sold on a first-come, first-serve basis. You can check out the full list of participating theaters at  getoutoneyearlater.com.

Peele shared the exciting news on Twitter saying “As a small thank you to the fans that made the film a success, Universal and I wanted to give something back.”

Not only was Get Out a critical success, but it was also a huge financial success. The film has been sitting comfortably at a 99% fresh score on Rotten Tomatoes since its opening weekend and has earned over $250 million, making it the highest-grossing debut film from a writer-director based on an original screenplay. Peele is currently nominated individually at the Oscars for Best Director and Best Original Screenplay. Daniel Kaluuya is nominated for Best Actor and the film itself is nominated for Best Picture.
