If you’ve ever punched through windows and walls to destroy buildings, eat people, and try to fight insanely aggressive monsters who were once human – you’ve most definitely played one of our favorite video games ever. Rampage.
No? Well, forget we mentioned it.
However, for those of you who are familiar with the game, you probably felt one of two emotions when you found out a film was being made based on it. Excitement or disbelief. You have to stop and think that a movie strictly about the game itself would be sort of impossible, and while some fans aren’t loving the direction that the trailers are taking this so far, we’re excited about it.
The premise of the movie is as follows.
‘Primatologist Davis Okoye, a man who keeps people at a distance, shares an unshakable bond with George, the extraordinarily intelligent, silverback gorilla who has been in his care since birth. But a rogue genetic experiment gone awry transforms this gentle ape into a raging monster. To make matters worse, it’s soon discovered there are other similarly altered alpha predators. As these newly created monsters tear across North America, destroying everything in their path, Okoye teams with a discredited genetic engineer to secure an antidote, fighting his way through an ever-changing battlefield, not only to halt a global catastrophe but to save the fearsome creature that was once his friend.’
The film’s second trailer dropped today and it shows us a bit more about George. In fact, within the first few moments, we see that he’s got an incredible sense of humor.
We also see that a certain experiment, genetic editing, has made George unpredictable on top of being much larger and now quite angry.
Oh, and we see Jeffrey Dean Morgan and even though he seems like the ‘not so nice guy’ of the group, it’s Jeffrey Dean Morgan and we’d watch him in anything.
Rampage crashes into theaters on April 20th.
