‘The Walking Dead’s Lauren Cohan Entertaining Several Other Pilot Offers
Spoiler Alert-Proceed with caution unless you’ve seen the first half of season 8 of The Walking Dead!
——————————————————————————————————————————–
It’s pilot season! That means a whole slew of fresh ideas are on the table, and networks are vying for certain actors as well.
It seems one of the most saught after actresses for 2018 pilot season is Lauren Cohan. She’s received at least 6 offers so far.
The Walking Dead star has played Maggie Greene (now Rhee) since 2011, the show’s second season. Her character is still alive and seems to have a lot of story ahead of her on the show right now. After all, Maggie is pregnant and the series has set her up to step up in Rick’s place and start taking the lead. This is imminent, as Rick is sure to be down and out, now that Carl is soon to succumb to his walker bite.
The Walking Dead was just renewed for season 9, but Lauren Cohan’s contract ends after season 8 as of now.
Deadline reported that there had been rumblings about Cohan’s pay in comparison to her counterparts Andrew Lincoln and Norman Reedus, but that was soon squashed when Cohan rejected a long-term contract which included higher pay.
Apparently, AMC has no other offers standing with Cohan after that, which means she is currently uncontracted for season 9.
It’s very possible that the young actress is ready and welcoming other projects after spending a solid 7 years on Walking Dead.
The show has recently undergone some big changes, recently bringing in Angela Kang as its new showrunner, and bumping Scott Gimple up to oversee content in the TWD universe.
Do you think season 8 will be Lauren’s last season? We certainly hope not! Maggie is one of the original characters from the first couple seasons and it would change the show completely.
What do you think would happen with Maggie’s character?
The final 8 episodes of The Walking Dead season 8 will begin airing on February 25th.
