‘This Is Us’ Super Bowl Episode Will Have an Extra “Big Three” Running Time

This Is Us has secured the coveted post- Super Bowl slot this Sunday, which comes as no surprise seeing as it’s NBC’s biggest hit, but also because we know that Jack Pearson (aka World’s Best Dad) died after the Super Bowl, so it’s fitting that the network has chosen to show us the episode in which he dies…yep, after the Super Bowl. There’s This Is Us for you.

While it’s going to be a tough watch, we do have some good news! The pivotal episode will actually be the series longest running one yet! So when we said that it will have an “Extra Big Three Running Time” we meant that literally. The episode will run for three extra minutes, which probably equates to a half of box of tissues in This Is Us land, so plan accordingly.

An episode as big as this is worthy of a 2-hour episode in our minds, but we will settle for three extra minutes even though every This Is Us fan knows that the final moments of any episode are always the most gutwrenching. In last week’s final minutes we saw a crockpot short out and catch on fire, sending flames throughout the Pearson’s home – an event that will set Jack’s death in motion.

DVRs currently have This Is Us beginning at 10:15 p.m. ET and running for 80 minutes, but the extra allotted time is simply due to the uncertainty of when exactly the game will end.  So, with an extra three minutes or not, we wish all of you This Is Us fans good luck as we attempt to watch the episode without becoming complete emotional messes!
