The Flash Recap ‘Honey, I Shrunk Team Flash’

Cecile is having some interesting pregnancy side-effects. While getting ready to go to work, she and Joe discover that she can read minds. Caitlin runs some tests to determine if the baby is a metahuman or not, but all the results come back negative. Caitlin believes that there was some latent dark matter from the first explosion in Cecile and it’s being jump-started by the changes in her body due to the pregnancy. Cecile is incredibly excited to call herself a meta and is a little overzealous when it comes to reading people’s minds. She reads Caitlin’s and finds out that she’s having a girl. But her new abilities cause some problems between her and Joe.

In prison, Barry asks his new friends Dave why he ended up in prison after another inmate says that Dave shot an unarmed man. Dave reveals that he was in the wrong place at the wrong time. He was actually trying to save the officer that was shot when the police arrived on the scene. Barry says that he’s going to look into the case and try to get Dave off. Dave doesn’t want Barry to do that, saying that the worst thing that you can do in prison is have hope.

Team Flash is in for a rough time as the next bus victim makes his appearance. He has the ability to shrink and resize any object he wishes. He shrinks the entirety of the Mercury Labs building. Joe, Cisco, and Ralph figure out who their suspect is and confront him. They also discover that he was hanging around Mercury Labs 15 years ago, around the same time the guard was killed and Dave arrested. Sylbert, aka Dwarfstar, makes an escape, shrinking Cisco and Ralph in the process.

Back at S.T.A.R. Labs, Harry tries to figure out how to reverse the shrinkage by analyzing Ray Palmer’s tech. He creates an “enbiggening” gun, but it doesn’t work. Instead, Ralph and Cisco’s cells have become unstable and they will explode in a couple of hours. The team tries to figure out where Dwarfstar will strike next while Harry faces his defeat. He and Cisco have a chat where Harry reveals that he feels stupid because he can’t outsmart Thinker and he probably just killed Cisco and Ralph. Cisco tells him that he can figure out the solution. That’s when they realize the only way to get them back to their normal size is to get them in Dwarfstar’s line of fire.

Luckily, Dwarfstar is hitting up his next target, a weather station museum. Cisco, Ralph, Harry, and Iris confront the meta. In the end, Harry baits Dwarfstar to fire his shrink ray at him, letting the blast strike his shirt pocket where Cisco and Ralph are hiding. They return to normal size and then Iris slaps a power-suppressing collar on Dwarfstar. Harry then points his gun at the meta, demanding a confession for the crime Dave was accused of. Dwarfstar laughs, saying he got quite a kick out of Dave getting arrest. But he refuses to confess.

Barry delivers the bad news to Dave, who says that he isn’t surprised by the result. However, he does thank Barry for reminding him what hope felt like. Barry makes the decision to break Dave out of prison. He waits until the oscillating camera isn’t pointing at his cell and he speeds off, grabbing Dave and transporting him to a remote village in China where Dave had wished to go. The next day, the Warden comes to Barry’s cell, telling him that the oscillating camera isn’t the only one in the wing. He secretly installed a still camera that points directly at Barry’s cell. He pulls out a photo showing the lightning. The Warden drugged Barry’s pudding and now that he knows he’s the Flash, he locks Barry up in the meta wing. The Warden then makes a phone call to Amunet, saying he’s ready to make a deal.

I knew the Warden wasn’t a good guy. Now that Barry’s locked up with the other bus victims, I wonder what the next step of Thinker’s plan is. I was expecting something to go down with all of them after everyone that was on the bus was taken in, but we’re still about 4 metas short. Regardless, Barry’s in a lot of trouble as his secret it about to get out.

I really enjoyed seeing more of Cecile this week. This is the first time we’re really getting some development on her and I’m curious where the mind-reading plot is going to go. How long is she going to keep this ability? This could also end up being a major factor in their battle with Thinker. He also has mind-reading capabilities so are we going to get a psychic showdown? I really enjoyed her and Joe’s scene at the end where she confesses all of her dark secrets to let Joe know that they can be 100% honest with each other. She’s also going to try and dial back on the mind-reading. Or at least in announcing what everyone is thinking.

Next week’s episode is entitled ‘True Colors.’
