‘Avengers: Infinity War’ isn’t Directly Set Up by ‘Black Panther’

If you’re a fan of the MCU, you’ve got a couple countdowns this year that are finally close enough to really get excited about. Avengers: Infinity War hits theaters on May 4th and Black Panther debuts on February 16th. Both films will bring something huge to the Marvel realm and they’ll do it in their own equally important ways.

One question that fans have had concerning both films is whether or not Black Panther will play a huge role in laying the groundwork for Avengers: Infinity War. While we’re avoiding major plot spoilers, we were extremely curious when we saw that Nate Moore, Marvel producer, touched on the subject recently.

Screen Rant asked what Black Panther meant in terms of Avengers: Infinity War and we have to say, we like the answer.

‘I think it’s inherently linked because of the Civil War connections and because of the Ultron connections with Klaue. So there are strings that we are playing with. But again, much like Doctor Strange, we felt this had enough storytelling that it could stand alone beyond those things. We wanted to give Ryan the freedom to tell a story that wasn’t relying on other things that were happening in the MCU. Now that doesn’t mean what happens in the film won’t have ripples in the MCU but the film itself isn’t relying on other plot points in the MCU.’

We think having Black Panther as a stand-alone film is important for the MCU, not only now but in the future. However, it absolutely makes sense that there are strings that connect it to Civil War and Infinity War, and we’re excited to see what that means once the film hits theaters.

If you haven’t done so yet, we advise prepurchasing those Black Panther tickets asap. Lupita Nyong’o couldn’t even score opening night seats to a local theater – and you won’t want to miss the debut of this film.

Black Panther premieres on February 16th.
