We all have dreams. The Otto’s are no different. Greg (Diedrich Bader) dreams of tenure and his book becoming a best seller. Katie (Katy Mixon) dreams of Greg getting his car fixed so they can roll up the window or at least fix the door locks, so they don’t have to crawl out the window that won’t roll up. Of course, Oliver (Daniel DiMaggio) dreams that his “real family who live in a castle” will come looking for him one day.
When Katie tries to help Greg’s dream come true she asks Doris (Ali Wong) and Angela (Carly Hughes) to write fake reviews on Amazon to help boost Greg’s ego but she did not expect her frugal, level headed and down to earth Greg to develop an ego and become the leader of the “Buy New Red Sports Car Owner Club” with Taylor’s (Meg Donnelly) new boyfriend Trip. However, when his book sells out on Amazon his ego went from inflated to him being a “luminary who needs to host a salon”.
When Katie reaches her limit with Greg’s “luminary” attitude and is about to tell him where he can shove his book and park his new car she stumbles upon the reason his book sold out on Amazon. Turns out Spencer (George Hamilton) their ex-convict millionaire neighbor wanted to do something to encourage Oliver to look up to his own father. Of course, the rush he got from ordering the first couple of hundred reminded him of the good old days of stock market trading and before he knew it he had a garage full of Greg Otto’s books which he plans to disappoint Trick or Treater’s with for the next several years with.
Katie marches back to her own house ready to pop the giant ‘luminary’ bobblehead that Greg had been sporting for a few weeks to overhear Oliver’s report on how Greg was his hero and at that moment she decided to let Greg have this one. Of course, Greg knew the truth as well but the fact that Katie let him have this “win” meant more than any amount of books that sell even if it was all to ONE housebound felon who lives next door.
Greg and Katie are real #relationship goals. She is real and sometimes crazy. He is calm and collected. They are perfect together and when the flip roles they are still perfect together. Plus she plays Martha Washington to his George Washington role play fantasy (costume and all) and that dear readers is TRUE LOVE.
