If you were looking forward to a weekend full of binge-watching a new television show, we have some marvelous news for you! Fresh off of its two big wins at the Golden Globes, Amazon is choosing to celebrate by making The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel available to stream for free on the Prime Video app from Friday, January 12 to Monday, January 15. It will also be available on Fire TV, mobile devices, and online.
For those that aren’t familiar, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel comes from the brilliantly quick-witted mind of Amy Sherman-Palladino (Gilmore Girls) and follows Miriam “Midge” Maisel, a woman living her best life in 1958 New York City with the perfect husband, two kids, and a stunning Upper West Side apartment. However, when a life-shattering change comes a-knockin’, Midge discovers that she has a blazing talent for stand-up comedy and thus begins a new journey of self-discovery and independence, narrated by some excellent comedic monologues.
While Palladino’s sharp writing is out of this world, it’s the performance by Rachel Brosnahan that brings the series to a whole new level, and thankfully she was awarded the Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy series because she absolutely deserved it. The Marvelous Mrs. Masiel also stars the always fantastic Alex Borstein as Midge’s right-hand lady, as well as Tony Shalhoub, Michael Zegen, and Marin Hinkle.
In addition to Brosnahan’s win, Amazon and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel also walked away with Best Musical or Comedy TV series.
“Big kudos and congrats to Rachel for her first Golden Globe and to Amy for an outstanding first season. We are excited for new viewers to join in the celebration and stream the series for free this weekend,” said Greg Hart, vice president of Prime Video.
So, if you’re not a Prime member, hop on the Marvelous bandwagon this weekend from Friday, January 12 at 12:01 am local time to 11:59 pm local time Monday, January 15 on Amazon Prime!
