Luke Wilson Joins ‘The Goldfinch’ With Ansel Elgort and Sarah Paulson
The cast of Warner Bros. and Amazon Studio’s The Goldfinch continues to grow as Luke Wilson just closed a deal today to star. Wilson joins an already star-studded cast of Ansel Elgort, Sarah Paulson, Jeffrey Wright, and Aneurin Barnard. The film is based on Donna Tartt’s best-selling novel of the same name.
The Goldfinch follows a Theodore Decker (Elgort) “who loses his mother in a bombing at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and is taken in by a wealthy family, only to be drawn into New York City’s art underworld.” Wilson will be playing Theodore’s father, an alcoholic and failed actor who comes back into his life after the death to take care of him.
The movie will be directed by Brooklyn’s John Crowley and produced by Color Force’s Nina Jacobson and Brad Simpson. It’s scheduled to start shooting sometime this month.
Luke Wilson has been flying somewhat under the radar as of late with his most recent work being Ben’s Status alongside Ben Stiller and Cameron Crowe’s drama series Roadies (above).

Having studied Media & Writing at James Madison University, I always knew that I wanted to do some type of creative writing, but being able to write about zombies, Starks, and superheroes on a daily basis for Fan Fest is my actual dream. While I probably shouldn’t be as proud as I am to be so similar to Nick Miller, I do hope to one day write my own “Pepperwood Chronicles’.
