Sterling K. Brown Makes Golden Globe History With ‘This Is Us’ Win
Sterling K. Brown is having quite the awards season as he continues to win for his touching and charming performance as Randall Pearson on NBC’s This Is Us.
He’s already won the Emmy and the NAACP award for the role and at this year’s 75th Annual Golden Globes, he took home the win for Lead Actor in a TV Drama Series.

Paul Drinkwater/USA TodayWhile its another exciting win for the This Is Us family, it’s an even more poignant win for Brown who made Golden Globes history as the first black male to ever receive the award for that category. In his speech, he sent beautiful thanks to creator Dan Fogelman who wrote the role of Randall specifically for a black actor, which is something that Brown is eternally grateful for.
“I’m being seen for who I am and for who I am, and it makes it that much more difficult to dismiss me or anyone who looks like me.”
While backstage Brown touched on the historic win:
To finally be the first of something is really interesting because I never considered myself to be a trailblazer. I just try to stand in my truth all the time and if I come from a place of truth, that’s all I can do. I can’t worry about trying to be Jackie Robinson or anything else, but I’m honored.

While the back half of This Is Us’s sophomore season begins this week, Brown also has a couple of other projects on the horizon. First up is Marvel’s Black Panther followed by a special guest spot on Brooklyn Nine-Nine.
We can’t think of anyone more deserving of this honor and can’t wait to see what the rest of Brown’s career has in store.
