We all do it, resistance is futile. No, I am not talking about Star Trek here, I am referring to something else that spans the frontier and actually goes where ALL men (and women) seem to go… social media. And there is no getting around it. The endless variety of social media platforms is much more than a source of entertainment, it is has become a primary source in connecting to the world around us. Twitter alone handles more than it’s fair share of colorful, albeit sometimes confounding, comments throughout the year.
“Every second, on average, around 6,000 tweets are tweeted on Twitter, which corresponds to over 350,000 tweets sent per minute, 500 million tweets per day and around 200 billion tweets per year.” – Source: Internet Live Stats
Forbes recently published some stats obtained from analytics firm Talkwalker listing the top 10 tweets that received the most activity in 2017. Some made us laugh, some made us cry, some made us angry. No matter which emotion was evoked though, we reacted. Whether we ‘liked’, ‘retweeted’ or commented, here are 5 of the top 10 mentioned.
