Chris Hemsworth Would Continue Playing Thor After ‘Avengers 4’

The future of some of Marvel’s finest hangs in the balance as fans await both Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers 4. The films, two of the biggest in pop culture history, are going to change the MCU forever and we’re trying our best to be prepared.

We aren’t the only ones. The cast, who have given so much of themselves to their characters, they’re trying to prepare for what’s next too. For some of them, it means the end of the MCU (at least, actively) and for others, it might very well mean an extension of a contract. At least, that’s what Chris Hemsworth is considering.

Avengers 4 is his last contracted film as Thor, but after Thor: Ragnarok, and filming the latest Avengers films, he’s reconsidering that idea. For Hemsworth, all he needed was a bit of evolvement in terms of Thor’s center.

‘Two or three films ago I was like, ‘okay, a couple more.’ I was enjoying it but I was like… I felt a little restricted, and after this last experience with Taika Waititi and actually these last two Avengers, I feel like we’ve reinvented the character a number of times — even in these next two, he evolves again, and you don’t get that opportunity often in a franchise.’

He says he feels a new sense of excitement and enthusiasm, in terms of his character, and what could happen in the future. It makes sense, Thor: Ragnarok received an incredible amount of positive feedback and it did liberate him – which opened a new sense of self for Thor to embrace.

‘If I had the opportunity to do it again, I think I’d love to.’

Hemsworth doesn’t think he’s the only one who wants more of this new side of Thor. He says there are many greater possibilities for his character to evolve in the future and he’d like to be part of it.

‘I also think there’s an appetite for it now, or there’s a far greater range of possibilities of where he can go now, what he can do, just because we’ve kind of broken the mold a bit.’

As long as Thor survives Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers 4, we don’t think there’s a possibility for anyone else to take on that role with the passion Hemsworth has. What do you think? Let us know.
