Here’s Your First Look at the Concept Art for Netflix’s ‘Sabrina’ Series

Who says things can’t get a little ‘witchy’ around Christmas? Ever since Netflix announced that they would be bringing a darker take on Sabrina the Teenage Witch to their platform we’ve all been anxiously waiting for some sort of hint as to what to expect and thankfully Riverdale executive producer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa was here to answer the prayer.

He just released the first concept art for the show and it definitely looks chilling, which is fitting considering it’s based on Aguirre-Sacasa’s Archie comic arc, The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. The concept art, which was released on Twitter, shows Sabrina walking towards a clearing as flames engulf the ground of the haunting woods.

“First concept art for #sabrina is coming in and looks FANTASTIC & chilling. Thrilled to be working with @Malicebot (production designer Lisa Soper),” Aguirre-Sacasa tweeted.

Without even seeing the concept art, Netflix already put the utmost faith in the Sabrina series when they announced a 20-episode, two-season, straight-to-series order earlier this month. The show, which was originally meant to be a Riverdale companion series on The CW, should do really well on the platform as they already have a huge built-in Riverdale fanbase. After Netflix made the first season of Riverdale available the show featured a massive boost in ratings and only continues to grow.

The still-untitled project will be a “dark coming-of-age story” about Sabrina who is juggling both evil forces and trying to be your average half human – half witch. Aguirre-Sacasa will write and executive produce  Sabrina.  Lee Toland Krieger will direct and executive produce alongside Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, and Jon Goldwater.
