Norman Reedus and Marylin Manson Talk Christmas Gifts and Wishes

It’s the season to be jolly, and Norman Reedus and Marilyn Manson have embraced the holiday with a new interview for the New York Times. The interview, which is more on the ‘making spirits bright’ side of Christmas cheer, is the kind of interview we like most.

The friends asked one another questions on everything from Christmas gifts to what projects they’re working on now and even discussed running in the same circles when LA was ‘just fun’.

Manson: So, Norman. Have you ever wildly missed the mark with a holiday gift you’ve given?

Reedus: I gave a girlfriend of mine a little, brown taxidermy bunny in a pink bag. I thought it was the coolest thing ever. It was a cute, little bunny. And she opened up the paper bag and started crying, because she used to have a bunny that looked just like that that died a horrible death. That gift went horribly south.

Manson: But sometimes the gift that makes a girl cry is nice. It’s good for the ozone, global warming. The tears of a woman can be the greatest gift of all to the Earth.

Reedus: This isn’t Brooklyn. Nothing grew out of the ground from tears. She just burst into tears — it was awful. What’s the craziest gift you ever got?

Manson: A taser from my friend. And from my girl, a trench knife.

Currently, Manson is recovering from a leg injury and now, Reedus is out filming for Ride With Norman Reedus, or at least, he will be. Filming for season 8 of TWD wrapped recently and the third season of Ride has already been picked up.

Manson also brought up how they ran in the same circles back in a ‘mostly pre-cellphone age’. We have to admit, sometimes we wish that age was still around.

Manson: You and I used to somehow hang out in the same crowd. We’d go to the same places but never really talked. It was pre-cellphone for the most part.

Reedus: I remember I was trying to buy a house in Los Angeles, and it was a Rolling Stones house, a house they recorded in. And you were there with Rose … Those were the good times. I loved all of that. That was back when LA was just fun.

Their Christmas wishes have to be our favorite part of the interview. Norman’s response was one we totally expected, a dog. However, upon hearing Marylin’s, our Christmas wish suddenly changed. We want what he’s having.

Reedus: I want a dog. I haven’t had one since I was a kid. My cat’s an asshole, so I kind of want a dog. A little Mad Max dog. What do you want for Christmas?

Manson: I want to have a little tussle with Jeffrey Dean Morgan.

Reedus: Like a sleepover? Or, like, you want to punch him in the face?

Manson: No, no, like a sleepover. I want to smell his pomade. I want to inhale his essence.

Reedus: I don’t know how I’m going to make that work, but I’m going to get you that for Christmas.

We’ll be waiting for our invitations, or at the very least, to see the Instagram photos from that sleepover soon.

You can see the read of Manson and Reedus’ Christmas wishes below.
