'American Housewife' Season 2 Episode 8 "Gala Auction" Review

There is nothing like a little parent and child bonding even if it includes Wall Street shark tactics and muskets. Oliver (Daniel DiMaggio) took Katie (Katy Mixon) under his “conservative right wing” and together they shook down all of the Westport high society families for donations to the Spring Gala Auction. Katie learned that sometimes you can play dirty and you walk away feeling wrong even if you don’t like the people you shook down.'American Housewife' Season 2 Episode 8 "Gala Auction" Review

Meanwhile, Greg (Diedrich Bader) decided that he wanted to share his love of war re-enacting with his daughters. So Anna-Kat (Julia Butters) and Taylor (Meg Donnelly) join him on the battlefield only to be told they had to be nurses because that was all that women were allowed to portray during the re-enactments. Anna-Kat let her “inner Dexter” out and started removing legs and arms like a professional, however, Taylor was bored and refused to play along which even got Greg in trouble and demoted in his ranks. Greg would not give up and made them both return the following day only to realize that it was wrong to force them to be nurses when there are a lot of other “inaccuracies” that took place. He learned that sometimes you can play to clean and walk away feeling wrong if you do not fix it.

The beauty of ‘American Housewife’ is that every week we walk away feeling better about our parenting skills, we realize that no one has parenthood perfected and we get to laugh along with the Otto’s. This weeks episode had us laughing but we also realized that we should always spend that quality time with our children even if we are trying to con rich people out of their vacation homes or “shooting” our dentist on a battlefield by screaming the word “BANG”. Just enjoy that time together while we can.
