‘Sabrina the Teenage Witch’ Reboot Moves From The CW to Netflix With 2-Season Order

The TV adaption of the Archie Comics graphic novel  The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina,  which was originally in development at The CW as a potential Riverdale companion, is officially headed to Netflix and already has been picked up for two 10-episode seasons! While any mention of Sabrina the Teenage Witch is sure to bring nostalgic waves of Melissa Joan Hart and her two wacky aunts to mind, the Netflix adaption is poised to be a  “dark coming-of-age story” of Sabria juggling both evil forces and trying to be an average normal half human – half witch.

The Riverdale component will still be very much apparent though as Riverdale creator Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa will be writing the pilot with Lee Toland Krieger directing. The move from The CW to Netflix most likely comes as a result of Riverdale’s massive success on the streaming service after it’s first season was made available. Once the show premiered for its second season the ratings had jumped up 60%. No release date or casting announcements have been made yet.
