Dwayne Johnson Celebrates the Holiday with some Jingle Bell Rock

The holiday editions of many magazines are rolling in and from stories inside to cover scoops, this time of year always has some of the best. Entertainment Weekly has revealed their latest edition and it’s got a classic Christmas Carol on repeat in our heads.

The song: Jingle Bell Rock, and when you take a look at the cover, it all makes sense. Dwayne Johnson looks even happier than usual – aren’t we all striving for a bit more cheer this time of year – as he stands holding a giant candy cane as if it were a guitar.

The interview, not surprisingly, starts off extremely motivational. He talks about a feeling many of us can relate to, but allows himself to experience and to use it differently.

I’ve realized that the No. 1 thing that keeps me motivated and positive is operating like my back’s against the wall, because when my back is against the wall, I feel like there’s only one way to go: You’ve gotta go forward.

Now, sometimes when you meet someone or when you see a figure in Hollywood, you are greeted with forced positivity. The idea that one must perpetuate that their lives are rolling without problem and perfection sits at the core of their being. Part of what makes Johnson so real and so genuinely inspiring is that he’s shared both the good and the bad but he just doesn’t allow the negative to have the influence it can often demand.

He went through his share of highs and lows before he found footing on level ground and it’s all lined him up to be exactly where he needs and desires to be.

I feel like these days, having lived a bit, I’m on my fourth level, and I have a little bit of experience underneath my belt. There’s a greater level of self awareness that I have. Who I present to the public and who I am at home, I try to make sure they’re as closely connected as possible because I realized some time ago that the greatest and most important thing that I can be is just me.

Being himself is working well for him, and we think you’d be hard pressed to find someone who didn’t agree. Today, when it can be hard to find someone to look up to, someone honest and still positive – Johnson is the kind of light you’d hope to find.
