‘The Walking Dead’: Craziest Weapons Used Throughout the Series

Spoiler Warning!  The following article contains spoilers from The Walking Dead episode The King, The Widow, and Rick.  Read on only if you are caught up.

Season 8 of The Walking Dead has definitely kicked things up a notch!  The first 8 episodes have been packed with explosive action and, particularly in this most recent episode, some crazy kills!

In episode 8, The King, the Widow, and Rick, Michonne and Rosita find themselves in a warehouse snooping on some opera-listening Saviors.  When things take a turn for the worst and the Saviors realize Rosita and Michonne are there, a hand-to-hand battle begins.  Ultimately, it’s Rosita who wins by completely obliterating one of the Saviors using a rocket launcher.  It was one of the craziest kills we have seen on the series yet to date!

In a zombie apocalypse, when conventional weapons such as barbed wires covered bats, machetes, katanas, guns, and crossbows become scarce, you’ve got to get creative (and become totally badass) in order to survive.  Episode 8 and Rosita’s wicked kill has inspired us to take a look back at some of the craziest weapons and kills that we’ve seen on the show to date, in no particular order.

Rick’s Chompers:

First, let’s talk about Rick Grimes.  He has his trusty colt python by his side pretty much at all times.  That gun has saved him from some seriously life-threatening situations.  His other weapon of choice which played a major role in season 7, is an ax.  But, when push comes to shove, with his back against a wall, Rick has no reservations against using whatever he’s got to get out of a sticky situation.  A perfect example of this is in season 4 when Rick meets Joe and the claimers.  After being separated from the group, Daryl gets mixed up with Joe and his group.  When Rick, Carl, and Michonne meet up with them one night, things get wild. There’s a scuffle and one of the claimers is about to do some terrible things to Carl.  Rick sees this and goes full-on beast mode.  Rick is being restrained with no weapons within reach so, he uses his trusty chompers to break free.  Rick bites out Joe’s throat before completely gutting him.  CRAZY!

Daryl’s a Rocket Man:

Rosita isn’t the only one who can wield a rocket launcher!  Daryl Dixon is one of the most ruthless characters in the series.  He rides along on his motorcycle while effortlessly killing walkers with his crossbow which has basically just become an extension of his own arm.  Seriously.  But in season 6, when he, Abraham and Sasha are confronted by a serious Savior situation, Daryl used a different kind of weapon to get the group out of a sticky situation – a rocket launcher.  What better way to clear out a Savior-blocked path.

Shiva Rules:

Though she met her untimely demise in season 8, King Ezekiel’s Shiva was a noble companion and one wicked walker hunter!  In season 7, we first meet the King and his big cat companion and, at first, it just seems like she’s a loyal, exotic pet.  In the season 7 finale, she proves herself a ruthless and dangerous weapon and a force to be reckoned with when she springs into action and saves Carl from being whacked by Negan.

Carol’s Cooking Up Something More Than Just Cookies:

Arguably the most badass person in the apocalypse, Carol Peletier hides her dangerousness behind a meek and unassuming facade.  Her weapon of choice is an awesome knife but, one of the coolest weapons we’ve seen her use was in season 6 when she is out on her own, leaving Alexandria.  She is battling an inner war about killing and she is confronted by a group of five men.  Carol doesn’t want to kill them.  You can see the turmoil on her face but, when push comes to shove, she had some tricks up her sleeve – a sewed in automatic gun, to be exact.  She easily took out those men with her hidden weapon.

Them Bones:

In what just might be one of the grossest kills in the entire series, Glenn Rhee proved that he truly was the most resourceful of the group.  When Glenn and Maggie were stuck in the interrogation room at Woodbury, Glenn rips off the arm of a walker he just killed and begins to pull apart its bones.  Totally gross but, also totally brilliant!  He gives the broken shards of bone to Maggie which make a perfect make-shift shiv.  Maggie later uses that bone shiv to kill one of the guards allowing them to escape.

Water, Water Everywhere:

Sometimes the most unlikely material can be used as a weapon.  In this case, we’re talking about water from a very strong and powerful pressure hose!  Yes, we’re talking about the fire truck which Abraham Ford, Eugene Porter, Glenn Rhee, Rosita Espinosa and Tara Chambler find in season 5.  They come across a fire truck which would be the perfect apocalypse vehicle.  When they finally get the truck up and running, moving the truck opens a door which releases a giant herd of walkers!  The group is about to be overtaken by the herd when quick-thinking Eugene springs into action and totally blows the heard away using the water in the truck.

In the words of the late, great Abraham Ford, “I’ve been to 8 county fairs and one goat rodeo.  I’ve never seen anything like that!”  And we’ve never seen anything like these crazy and unconventional weapon kills.
