Last week’s episode challenged Dr. Shaun Murphy in a multitude of ways. When his breakfast was interrupted by Lea, his neighbor who he totally has a crush on, Shaun was forced to break his routine and head to the supermarket in order to buy a new apple. While there, he became the victim of an armed robbery and, due to his difficulties with communication, a bad situation turned worse. While the team at San Jose St. Bonaventure hospital was able to save the victim of the robbery, the traumatic event took its toll on Shaun. Eventually, he was able to find some comfort and support from an unlikely place – his neighbor Lea who gave him a big ol’ hug at the end of the episode.
This week, however, it looks like Dr. Melenedez will be the one facing a challenge. When a patient comes to the hospital that Dr. Melenedez feels he can’t save, who will he go to for support? Shaun, perhaps?
The official synopsis for Monday night’s episode titled Intangibles reads as follows:
“As part of St. Bonaventure hospital’s international humanitarian program, the team takes on the case of a young boy from the Congo who has severe congenital heart anomalies. Dr. Neil Melendez has doubts about the safety of the procedure, while Dr. Shaun Murphy works out the best course of action. Meanwhile, Murphy’s latest encounter with his neighbor Lea has him confused.”
