What We Learned About Negan This Week on ‘The Walking Dead’

Important! Please do not read further unless you have seen the most recent episode of The Walking Dead-The Big Scary U.

This week’s episode was one of character development to say the least!

One huge part of the episode was the conversation between Gabriel and Negan in the trailer after the first fight. Who knew that Father Gabriel would be the one to make Negan talk?

Here are some things we learned about one of the most brutile and evil villains in Walking Dead history. He actually explains himself.

  • Why he brutally murders

“We kill the right people in the wrongest way possible and we make em all watch.”

“If you kill the right people at the right time, every body’s happy, some more than others. You kill one, you can be saving hundreds more. That is what we’re all about. We save people.”

Do you agree with this?

  • Why he thinks Rick is worse than him

Negan defends himself by telling Gabriel that he is only trying to save people. He may kill people more easily, but he does it for a reason. He claims that Rick is the one who is blindly leading his people into the fire.

“I killed the widow’s husband and ginger, but I didn’t GET them killed.”

  • He worked with children prior to the apocalypse

What else did Negan do before the apocalypse? Negan helped KIDS. Of all things. He “showed them the way” or else they’d “turn out like crap”. He believes that people are weak and believs that he “helps them through their weaknesses.” Tough love, alright.

  • About his first wife

When he talks about his first wife, he gets emotional. He says that she was his only “real wife.” He married her before the apocalypse and tells Gabriel that he was unfaithful to her when she became ill pre apocalypse. He was too scared to put her down once she died from her own illness after the apocalypse.

My first wife was a real wife. I screwed around on her. She was sick. When she went it was during this.

What do you think of all this? Did you expect his backstory to follow the comics? Were you surprised by any of this? Sound off in the comments!
