It is Thanksgiving in the Otto Household; Greg’s strict parents are coming for dinner and Greg is a panic. Greg being an only child and trying to live up to Thomas Otto (Barry Bostwick) and Amanda Otto (Julia Duffy) standards have him removing technology from the house, becoming a fashion designer to the family and kicking mints into the vent. Of course, just as he has everything perfect, the number one rule of family holidays kicks in THERE IS NEVER A PERFECT FAMILY HOLIDAY.
It starts when Oliver (Daniel DiMaggio) invites Spencer (George Hamilton), the Otto’s ex-convict millionaire neighbor without letting Katie and Greg know. However, it is when Katie’s mom Kathyrn (Wendie Malick) arrives that the shocking events begin. Katie and Kathyrn are actually getting along. Oliver realizes that his plan to pretend to be Spencer’s friend, so he can get into Spencer’s will has turned into a real friendship. Taylor (Meg Donnelly) ends up breaking up with Eyo even after he sent her and I Love You text.
Greg is heartbroken when his father doesn’t like Greg’s book but as they watch Anna-Kat’s Family Thanksgiving Dinner Documentary they discover a shocking secret that Greg’s dad had been hiding for 20 years. Thomas has had a secret family in England for the last 20 years including another son named Greg. Greg’s mom learned of the “other family” when she found her husband “secret cell phone”. Greg (the American One) filled with shock and anger unloads years of pent-up rage and finally, after so many years Katie got to use the line “Hey Thomas! Here’s a new word for you! Ska-Douche…The sound the door makes when it kicks a douche out of the house!”
