The Stars of ‘Sabrina the Teenage Witch’ Reunite and Discuss the Show’s Lasting Impact

What’s the matter? I have to be a witch, I have to be a mortal, I have to be a teenager and I have to be a girl all at the same time. That’s what’s the matter.’

If you recognize the above quote then we don’t have to tell you that Sabrina the Teenage Witch was one of the most relatable shows for young girls. Not that we all turned into witches when we hit a certain age or anything, just in a way that Sabrina was all of the things so many teenagers go through.

She was trying to figure herself out while navigating school, relationships, and how to fit into the world while being quite different. The advice she often received from her aunts and her best friends was advice that anyone could use. They were funny and a bit quirky, but incredibly wise.

During Stan Lee’s LA Comic Con, the cast of Sabrina the Teenage Witch got together once again to discuss the show and how it still plays a role in their lives today. The main way it still resonates with the cast is because of its lasting impact and legacy. In fact, they still get feedback on it quite often.

Beth Broderick, who played Aunt Zelda said people still come up to her and tell her she was important to them.

I still have young women come up to me and say, ‘You were my childhood, you’re like my second mom. I listened to your advice when I was 9 and you were right.’

Melissa Joan Hart says that her role as Sabrina Spellman was her big iconic role. She, too, gets people coming to her and telling her that they grew up watching the series, and grew up going through many of the same things.

‘Every actor wants to have that one role that’s iconic, that speaks to people, that people relate to it. When fans come to us and say, ‘We grew up with you,’ that is the biggest compliment we could ever receive for working hard all those years… It just makes us feel good that so many people enjoyed it and enjoyed our work and what more can you ask for?’

Caroline Rhea said that the series and its lasting impact was something like a miracle, that it ‘worked all across the board’. As fans of the series, we have to say we agree.
