Throwback Thursday: ‘Field of Dreams’ (1989)
Happy Throwback Thursday, my fellow nerds! Have I ever mentioned how much I love Netflix?! If I have not in the past, I will certainly say it now. I love Netflix. It’s got anime, TV Shows, and an amazing abundance of movies to fill my nerd meter for the day. Today, however, my nostalgia meter has been filled to the brim. I stumbled upon a movie I used to watch almost weekly as a child – Field of Dreams.
Perhaps it was my love for baseball that drew me in as a child, or maybe the fact that I got to ‘watch’ baseball heroes like ‘Shoeless’ Joe Jackson playing in a game. As I rewatch it as an adult, there are so many concepts that went over my head. I personally feel like the true meaning and concept behind the film is much more powerful to me as an adult, as opposed to when I was a young child.
Field of Dreams (1989) is about an Iowa corn farmer named Ray Kinsella who keeps hearing a voice that continues to give him directions, he then interprets that as a command to build a baseball diamond in his fields; he does, and the 1919 Chicago White Sox come to play on his field. The film stars Kevin Costner, James Earl Jones, Amy Madigan and Ray Liotta.
