Norman Reedus and Dave Chappelle Go Oystering in South Carolina

When Norman Reedus was filming season 2 of Ride with Norman Reedus, fans were immediately curious as to who he’d have as guests this time around. The journey is the best part of each episode, so the person he chooses to take it with is pretty special. From Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Greg Nicotero, this season is filled with people he’s really close to.

One of the first guests we saw him inviting along for season 2 was Dave Chappelle and having seen their episode, it has to be one of our favorite of the series so far. The pair vibe off of one another with a similar sense of humor and a generally relaxed nature.

One of the most humbling experiences that Norman has had on the journey so far, both in season one and two, was visiting St. Helena Island and finding out about the importance and connection that exists.

The coolest part of their episode was that they got to go ‘oystering’ and had a hand in making their own food. They got with a man named Jamie who’d been doing this for his entire life and got to see how important it is to keep the tradition alive.

As we’ve said before, learning the stories of the people they encounter and what those stories mean to the cities they visit is both inspiring and eye-opening. You don’t always see the depth of people until you see them in their most natural state; just living their day to day lives.

This was especially true after they saw damage left behind after hurricanes and realized how much Oysters meant to the community.

Dave also realized that they were ‘basically eating water filters’. Which, when you think about it, is quite accurate.
