Throwback Thursday: ‘The Walking Dead’ Pilot Episode Revisited

Happy Throwback Thursday, my fellow nerds! Do you ever find yourselves binge watching some of your favorite shows before the next season premiere? Last week I’m pretty sure someone at Netflix thought they had a crazy customer because I binge watched all of Arrow, The Flash, and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow over the course of eight days. I mean hey, I was just too excited!

This week, I turn that binging to The Walking Dead, as we are inching ever so closely to the Season 8 premiere! While binging, I found myself at a loss for words as I re-watched an episode in particular. The Very First Pilot. Season 1 Episode 1 – ‘Days Gone By

Thinking about how strong and independent Rick is now compared to how he was in that episode, it is just absolutely bizarre. He’s a completely different person. Then again, if anyone went through all that trauma like Rick did… I’m sure they would change too.

Let’s revisit the official synopsis for the episode, and official trailer for Season 1, which was the exact moment that brought The Walking Dead to life.

Sheriff’s deputy Rick Grimes wakes from a gunshot-inflicted coma to discover the world overrun with walkers. He goes back to his house to find his wife and son but meets survivor Morgan Jones and his son Duane – Rick decides to head to Atlanta to find his wife Lori and son Carl.

The Walking Dead Season 8 will return on Sunday, October 22nd at 9PM on AMC.
