NBC Redeveloping Nancy Drew Reboot

Our favorite crime solving heroine is returning to TV on a different network, according to Variety.

The series was originally picked up by CBS, but writers Tony Phelan and Joan Rater and producer Dan Jinks have shifted it over to NBC.

The series is described as follows:

In NBC’s Nancy Drew, written by the duo, when the author of the most famous female teen detective book series is thrust into a real-life murder mystery, who does she turn to for help? Her two best friends from childhood, who were the inspiration for all those books and the women who have a real ax to grind about the way their supposed best friend chose to portray them all those years ago.

After CBS saw the pilot, they determined that it “skewed too female” for what they were looking for. The team didn’t give up on it, which resulted in NBC then picking it up.

For those of you who are used to the young, coming of age, and coming into womanhood version of Drew, this one will be a bit different. Nancy will be dealing with adult problems now.

Maybe this time she will actually have to budget before flying to Venice to solve the latest crime.

Althoughs nothing can live up to the computer game series I grew up with, I surely will welcome Nancy to the screen, and watch her in this new form, because Nancy is awesome.
