It goes without saying that the early years of Nickelodeon were something really special. It had a lineup of original and creative programming such as All That and Figure it Out that took up permanent residence in people’s hearts and many still hold dear today.
Now, you will have the chance to go back and relive the magic of the network that brought you gallons on gallons of slime and your obsession with orange soda. The first teaser trailer for the Nickelodeon documentary The Orange Years just dropped, so prepare to be transported back to the nostalgic golden era of the channel and dive into the story of Nickelodeon’s early success starting with its humble origins all the way to the SNICK years.
This isn’t just a “where are they now?” special, the documentary will really dive into the revolutionary and game-changing approach the network took with original programming and will touch on how Nickelodeon visionary Geraldine Laybourne took her idea of a “kids first” network and turned it into an $8 billion industry. The Orange Years was successfully crowd-funded on Indiegogo in 2016 and is co-directed by first-time filmmakers Scott Barber and Adam Sweeney.
The documentary is filled with interviews from some of your favorite actors and characters, writers, animators, and creators from all your favorite nostalgia-inducing shows! Expect to see some familiar faces such as Kenan Thompson (All That, Kenan and Kel, Saturday Night Live), Kel Mitchell (All That, Kenan and Kel, Game Shakers), Marc Summers (Double Dare), Larisa Oleynik (The Secret World of Alex Mack), Phil Moore (Nick Arcade), Kirk Fogg (Legends of the Hidden Temple), Danny Cooksey (Salute Your Shorts), and Christine McGlade (You Can’t Do That on Television) and more!
