‘Arrow’: EP says Vigilante’s Reveal will ‘Surprise’ Fans

Last Season on Arrow, Oliver found himself facing one of his toughest adversaries, Prometheus. In addition to this ‘big bad’, Oliver found himself dealing with another problem as the Green Arrow, and this ‘problem’ was named ‘Vigilante’.

Vigilante’s morals are definitely on the fence. Several times last season, he claimed to be just like Oliver. The only difference between the two of them was that when Vigilante came face to face with street thugs and criminals, they didn’t get back up.

In a recent interview with TV Guide spoke with Arrow EP Wendy Mericle about the Vigilante reveal, and when we can expect to see who is behind that mask:

I can definitely tell you it’s not right away, but it will be happening. We’re so excited about it. We’re excited about the casting, we’re excited about the stories. It was one of those things where we didn’t know how far we were going to be able to take it, and it’s evolved into kind of a bigger story arc than we thought, which is always exciting because you get to take the character in new directions, and it’s going to have an impact on our characters. That’s when you know the story is really working and things are really in sync. I think it’s going to be really surprising. I don’t think the audience is going to see it coming. At least I hope they don’t. It’s just going to be fun.

Fan theories have ranged from a resurrected Tommy Merlyn to the Huntress. Essentially, this is how I personally view it.

I’ve seen characters being brought back from the dead (some more than once), a few locked into the speed force, and I’ve seen aliens come to the Arrowverse. At this point, anything could absolutely be possible.

In a prior interview, Marc Guggenheim stated that Vigilante would be someone that we’ve met before. So I guess it is time to rewatch the seasons and create that checklist! Or, just sit tight and wait.

Either way, we are stoked.

Arrow will return on Thursday, October 19th at 9PM/EST on The CW.
