Throwback Thursday: ‘HABBO’ Turns 17!
Hello my fellow geeklings! Happy Throwback Thursday to you!!
So the other day I was clearing through some of my old documents on my Windows 98 PC that we have in our basement (I’m not kidding, this thing is old) and I stumbled across a notepad document that said ‘AIM Usernames’. I found myself thinking ‘wow, AIM? I forgot I had that thing!’. In the same folder I found some log in information for some other sites including HABBO HOTEL – which I recently learned celebrated its 17th anniversary!
Habbo (previously known as Habbo Hotel) is a social networking online community, primarily geared for teens. The original community began in 2000 and since then has expanded to include nine online communities, with users in over 150 countries.
Habbo is actually a really fun service, which allows users to create their own Habbo character (I don’t know why, but these characters resemble the minecraft characters to me) and with that character, they can design hotel rooms, meet and chat with new friends, organize parties, have virtual pets, play games and complete quests.
Who else remembers this entertaining game?
