‘Arrow’: Dinah Drake- Dauntless or Dangerous?
She’s quirky, she’s tough, and she’s pretty badass. Essentially, Dinah Drake contains the most similarities to the comic book version of the Black Canary that we have seen yet. She certainly won the fan base over after her debut last season, and really revved up fans when it was announced that Juliana Harkavy would be returning as a regular this season.
As we’ve seen in teaser photos, Dinah will be getting a new costume for the upcoming season. Along with a new costume and new apartment (we hope), comes a new sense of confidence. Last season Dinah and Diggle shared several emotional conversations in which Dinah referred to herself as ‘abnormal’ and that she felt like she couldn’t do things that ‘normal people do’. Essentially, she was the newest of the new kids on the block – or the team, so to speak.
While being confident can be a great strength to a hero, it can also mean trouble. In a recent interview with TVLine, Wendy Mericle stated that it may not be a good thing for Team Arrow.
“She’s no longer the newbie on the team, she has a definite point of view — and I can tell you that that point of view and her new swagger is going to have some real consequences for the team down the road,” Mericle said. “Look out for that in the middle of the season.”
Well, I guess looking cool isn’t all that is going to come out of this ‘new swagger’, is it? One other thing I can say we are all looking forward to, is seeing another Black Canary and Black Siren faceoff!
I guess we will have to wait and see what path lies ahead for Dinah and the team when Arrow returns this fall!
